Several news reports this morning, including those from the Oakland Tribune and CBS5, reported that Davante Riley, 18, who was fatally shot early this morning was a San Ramon resident.

However, two later news stories--including one from the Oakland Tribune--state that Riley is an Oakland resident. The follow-up article includes no correction or clarification to the earlier report that Riley is from San Ramon. Patch calls to the Oakland police department have not been returned.

According to several news reports, Davante Riley, who turned 18 Saturday, was shot inside an apartment that belonged to a relative as he and other people were celebrating his birthday.

Riley was taken to an Oakland hospital where he died at 12:47 a.m.

Police have arrested a 15-year-old Oakland girl on suspicion of murder. The girl, whose name is not being released because of her age, was dating Riley.

Terry Koehne, spokesman for the San Ramon Valley Unified School District, said that Davante Riley is not enrolled in any of the district schools.

Patch will update this story as more information becomes available.
