1. Blue After Dark at Wild Vine
Where/When: Friday at 8 p.m. at the Wild Vine in Danville
Why Go: Celebrate April Fool's Day and start your weekend off right with some vino as you listen to modern acoustic music by the Bay Area's Blue After Dark. Watch the band's performance of the classic "House of the Rising Sun" here on YouTube.
Price: Menu and drink prices vary.

Where/When: Saturday at 8 p.m. the Bankhead Theater in Livermore
Why Go: Celebrate spring with some festive Cajun music performed by award-winning BeauSoleil, which blends Zydeco, Tex-Mex, western swing, blues, New Orleans traditional jazz and Caribbean calypso. BeauSoleil is "the best Cajun band in the world," according to Garrison Keillor of "Prairie Home Companion."

Where/When:  Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Bunjo's Comedy Club in Dublin
Why Go: See Larry "Bubbles" Brown, a comedian with national television credits, including on "Late Show with David Letterman" and Comedy Central. This "All Star Show" also features comedians Ben Feldman, Max Curry and Sandra Risser.

Where/When: Saturday and Sunday at the Barn in Livermore
Why Go: Support local artists, enjoy local wines and listen to live music during the Livermore Art Association's annual Spring Art Show reception Saturday at 7 p.m. But first, take in the organization's biggest exhibit of the year on Saturday and Sunday. Most artwork will be for sale and the event is open to the public.
Price: Free

Where/When: Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Pleasanton Library
Why Go: End your weekend on a musical note with a free jazz concert. The band Soul Source draws on the rich body of Afro-Cuban and Brazilian-influenced jazz and performs on drums, piano, bass, congas and jazz harmonica.
Price: Free seat tickets will be given out 45 minutes before the show begins.

Out of Town Picks: 

History buffs should head to Angel Island this weekend as the state park commemorates the 150th anniversary of the Civil War at Camp Reynolds. You can explore an 1863 Union Army post and try your hand at militia drill, baking and other soldierly skills. The free two-day event also features hourly cannon firings, mock battles, camp tours, hands-on activities and demonstrations. Click here for details.
