San Ramon Brewery Celebrating Anniversary

Schubros Brewery will be partying all day Sunday to celebrate its first anniversary and to unveil its new R&D facility.

The past year has been pretty good to Schubros Brewery, and the owners of the San Ramon brewery have big plans for the future.

Schubros Brewery will celebrate its first anniversary on Sunday, June 30, with a party from noon to 6 p.m. that includes food trucks and a beer garden.

The celebration coincides with the official launch of the local brewery’s research and development facility. Schubros will be giving tours of the R&D facility and have the taproom open. Mayor Bill Clarkson will give a speech christening the new brewing equipment.

“To say we’re excited to have our facility officially open is an understatement.” said brewmaster Mike Johannsen. “We’ve been working day and night for a long time for this. ... I’m really excited to have a place to vet all my recipes and new ideas.”

Johannsen, who started brewing beer on his 21st birthday in his dorm at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, now has a lab where he can experiment with his concoctions. Schubros will be looking to expand its stable of beers, which includes the already popular and growing lines such as the Nico Wheat, Diablo Dark Stout, and 680 IPA.

“We want to celebrate our first birthday party with the people of San Ramon” said Ian Schuster, brewery president. “We are part of this community and we want to share our good fortune with them.”

The brewery is located at 12893 Alcosta Blvd.
