What a sad situation we the people are in.
EASTER....Candy, Rabbits, Chicks, Brunch, Stupid Egg…Read More Hunts...AND NOT ONE SINGLE MENTION ABOUT THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST.
Oh well, that's a good example of why the world is so screwed up.
Thanks for listening... No I'm not super religious, but there is a time and place to reflect on some kind of religion. Most of us lean to religion when we are ill and hurting. Another words when it's convenient and we want help. Shame on us....

Although I have not watched this movie in over 30 years, I remember it as being a real force of…Read More energy in my life and I saw it then four times. I was younger and related to it very well. I wonder if there are other movies which are similar or which it reminds you of....can anyone think of any? But, Harold and Maude really spoke to the energy and positivity in a person regardless of age, race, class, orientation or profession......atitude with a capital A.
michael frederick January 20, 2013 at 03:28 am
Colby,
This is one of my favorite movies, ever:
The mom routinely swimming past Harold's floating…Read More body.
Harold excusing himself from the blind date his mom set up for him, to
ceremonially pour gas on himself and light-up in front of her, to "discretely"
drive her away.
The preacher's repulsion at the thought of Harold's "young, firm" body in bed with
Maude.
Priceless... I love Ruth Gordon. She's fearless.
And, the views of rolling hills and oaks lets you know it was filmed here.
About 35 years ago, Harold and Maude was a recurring feature -- along with Rocky Horror -- at the El Rey on Main St. That's where I first saw it.
Thanks for sharing. You're right, it's timeless.

Exactly, and this is why Avatar didn't blow my mind. Yes, the 3D technology used in filming was…Read More pretty awesome, but the story-line wasn't anything special. Especially because I think Dances with Wolves was way better.
The political aspect of awards shows like the Golden Globes, and the Oscars is usually what drives me to avoid them. I don't care what an actor or actress has to say about politics, and I hate when they use their acceptance speech as a soap box. Last night's Golden Globes didn't bother me as much as I thought (Probably because I had it on my DVR so I could fast forward through whatever I wanted) but I do understand what you are talking about when it comes to political influence within Hollywood.

it's absolutely fabulous. Makes me totally dying to see it on stage again!
Emily Henry (Editor) January 5, 2013 at 05:09 pm
I saw it last night and thought it was by far the best movie of 2012. I cried the whole way through,…Read More and that final scene.... wow. It should win an Oscar and so should Jackman and Hathaway. I can't believe that they did most of their scenes in one take! Absolutely stunning!

I was impressed with how the movie shows what a wonderful father Jean Valjean was. In fact, the…Read More movie (like the book) makes it clear that becoming a father was the impetus that changed him for the good.
In this day and age in which most TV shows or Hollywood movies portray fathers as idiots or emotionless robots, it's nice to see a portrayal that demonstrates just how much a man can love his children and the degree of personal sacrifice he will endure out of parental love.
Jean Valjean was an awesome dad. And a single one to boot.

No need for a bleeding heart badge. The victim mentality acts perfectly well as a replacement.
Janice P Ellis December 27, 2012 at 02:02 pm
You're correct, Voter with an ID - Africans did sell their own people into slavery. But, who did…Read More they sell them TO? To be fair, we need to include the ENTIRE ugly picture, not just one part of it. And, if you really think this is about reparations, you really ARE clueless. No amount of money could undo what has been done, nor make what happened ok.
I've read your posts on this forum for awhile now, and you're always ready and willing to hurl insults. You never seem to have anything positive to say, which says a lot about who you are. Then, you label people such as myself as "bleeding hearts". Believe me, if it separates me from you and people like Darwinian Justice, who always have something negativeand insulting to say, I'll wear the "bleeding heart" badge with honor.
Janice P Ellis December 27, 2012 at 01:42 pm
You see, Darwinian Justice, that's what is so warped and twisted about thinking you know someone…Read More inside and out based on posts in this forum. I grew up in Berkeley in the '60's, where it really was the ultimate melting pot. I was taught that we're all the same - and I believe that to this day. We all have hopes and dreams and fears.
We all have our crosses to bear, Darwinian Justice, but, you're totally off-base as to what you think mine are. Thankfully, racism isn't one of them, nor is my feeling like a victim as a result of what the black race has gone through. So, you can save your zingers for someone else. And, no, obviously I DIDN'T live through 400 years of slavery, but, as a black person, I live with the after effects of it.
Getting back to Kwanzaa, my family doesn't celebrate it, but, I can understand why something like Kwanzaa exists. I absolutely don't believe Kwanzaa WOULD exist if the black race hadn't been oppressed and enslaved, nor would America have seen the likes of the Civic Rights movement of the '60's. There would have been no NEED for them. One has no need to show strength unless another has tried to show one as weak.
As so often happens on these forums, some have no desire to seek to understand, but, only seek to insult and put others down. I find it very interesting that those people rarely use their real names.
As usual, everyone is talking, but, no one is listening. All some of you seem to care about are insults.

I don't have a recipe, but I did buy some bacon-maple cupcakes (they were more like muffins) at the…Read More school holiday gift sale, and I have to say they were pretty tasty. (I think that recipe came f/ Bon Appetite) Now the jam ON the cupcakes would be overload....hmmm..or would it?

I wish they did things like this for adults! I'm such a fan of Make A Wish they are an amazing…Read More foundation! So happy for this young lady. I was wondering what kind of autoimmune disorder, as my sister has and autoimmune disorder also. Thanks and God Bless:) Merry Christmas!

Yes you have missed another Author. Her book is "The Butternut Tree".It is a novel

Sounds like you ladies need to try decaf or posting later in the month. In any case opinions are…Read More neither right nor wrong. It's also been said that opinions are like a$$holes; everyone has one. Have a good night, girls.
Hannah October 10, 2012 at 12:28 am
It may come as a surprise to you, Janice, but, I'm not arguing about your opinions, I'm arguing…Read More about the fact that your opinions aren't supported at all. I suggest rereading my reply to your comment again, so you can really feel how completely wrong you are. Try not to be so embarrassed next time you're this wrong... 'cause, as you've done here, you've just proven yourself to be more wrong. I didn't tell you to love Justin Bieber, but simply to not be unnecessarily mean, and to stop insulting things you aren't educated about. If you'd just said something like "I don't like Justin Bieber's music because it's not my style and his voice doesn't appeal to me." I would be more understanding. I'd still be annoyed that you decided to express your opinion here... but it's your life, and if you decide to be unnecessarily mean... well, you're entitled to that, however much I personally disapprove. But, instead of saying something like my example comment, you just spouted some random dumb opinion, and, here's my issue with you, attempted to back it up with a ridiculous completely unsupported prediction about his future (because you clearly realized how random and inappropriate expressing your opinion would be in this setting). Aside from all this, you don't need to love him, but I think it would definitely be fair for you appreciate the fact that he is a good natured person who has given A LOT of money to charity, and has made millions of people happy.
Janice P Ellis October 9, 2012 at 11:31 pm
Perhaps you should do the same, Sandra. Your comments are mean-spirited at someone who simply…Read More voiced an opinion. The keep your snide comments street runs both ways. I could care less about having the last OR the first word, but, NO ONE likes being attacked for simply voicing an opinion. Your attack here was completely unnecessary.
I agree, it WAS a lovely story about Lacy attending a concert, and I did address that, as well as wished her a happy birthday AND commented about how cute her cake was. Please stop trying to be the comment police and learn to just respect the opinions of others, even if you don't agree with them.
