<p>Neil Armstrong Elementary School was established in 1969. The school has been recognized for achievement as a California Distinguished School and a National Blue Ribbon School. </p> <p>Here is its vision statement:</p> <p>"Neil Armstrong's vision is to promote collaboration between staff, parents, and students to achieve academic excellence. We strive to create a safe environment, which fosters the development of responsible, caring students who are lifelong learners that are prepared to meet the challenges of a culturally diverse society."</p> <p>There are 540 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Home of the Eagles, the school serves the community south of Montevideo Drive and southeast of Interstate 680 in San Ramon.</p> <p>Lorna Monteith is the principal.</p> <p>Support organizations include the PTA, whose president is Vanessa Berastain, and the Neil Armstrong Academic Boosters, a volunteer group of parents who do fundraising for educational programs.</p>
