Tribute at Fairgrounds to Sept. 11 Attack Victims

'Never Forget' will be held on Sept. 11 to remember the terrorist attacks on that day 10 years ago.

A tribute to the victims and heroes of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks will be held at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton.

"Never Forget" will be held from noon to 7 p.m. at the fairgrounds on  Sept. 11, the 10th anniversary of the attacks. The festivities will include a parade, helicopter display, five bands and a barbeque. The event is free, although fairgrounds parking is $8.

There will also be an evening event from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the fairgrounds amphitheater. It will feature American Idol contestant Jason Castro. Cost is $10.

The group, Impact for America, is organizing the tribute. In a press release, the organization said the event is "designed to bring people together on a day in history when we grieved as one."

Organizers also say "the spirit of the event encompasses remembering the tragedy of 9/11 while connecting it with honoring the courageous veterans, service members and first responders who serve our country."
