Day At The Park For San Ramon Volunteers

Volunteer cleanup day at Inverness Park set for Saturday morning.

Perhaps San Ramon's parks could use some sprucing up, especially with the summer rush heating up. The park is a lot more fun, after all, when the sandbox actually has sand.

Inverness Park will be the focus of the City of San Ramon's regular Parks Make Life Better volunteer cleanup day on Saturday, from 9 a.m. to noon.

"Crews from the Public Works Department will be there and they'll have arranged ahead of time for certain projects to be completed," said Bonnie Mertz of the City of San Ramon. "The projects could include spreading tanbark or sand, painting, or just cleanup."

There are two more scheduled cleanup days: July 27 at Bellingham Square and August 24 at Forest Home Farms Historic Park.

Mertz said the event usually draws 25-50 volunteers. The event is open to all ages, however children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Volunteers are asked to bring work gloves and will need to register in advance.

Register online at www.citylights.volunteerhub.com or contact Mertz at bmertz@sanramon.ca.gov or (925) 973-2608.
