Mayor Clarkson Joins in Lacrosse Camp Opening Ceremony

Dick's Sporting Goods donated over $5,000 to the San Ramon club earlier this week.

Mayor Bill Clarkson and Billy Burkhalter of Dicks Sporting Goods participated in the opening ceremonies for the Raptors Lacrosse Club at the Tiffany Roberts Sports Complex in San Ramon on August 14.

Mayor Clarkson passed the ceremonious 'first pitch' to Raptors Lacrosse player Nathan Hirtle. Clarkson then sounded the starting whistle to kick-off the activities for the camp.

Burkhalter, from Dicks Sporting goods presented the ceremonial check commemorating a donation of over $5,000 in cash and special discounts to Raptors Lacrosse Club and to its members.

“We are thrilled that the Mayor and Dicks Sporting Goods came out to our Lacrosse Camp,” said club president Frank Abajian, who accepted the gift.

“This marks a very significant event in the lives of our families who participate and it acknowledges the importance of our sport in the Tri-Valley Area," he said.

Raptors camp is a yearly event that welcomes any youth who wants to participate in lacrosse. Registration for spring season will begin for boys and girls leagues in September and periodic skills clinics will be announced on the Raptors web site.
