Local Teen Golfer Misses Chance at 2013 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship

The Dougherty Valley High student won't be going to South Carolina to compete this year.

San Ramon's Yoonhee Kim, 15, failed to qualify to the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship, which will be held on August 5-10 in in Charleston, South Carolina, according to the Bay Area News Group.

The Bay Area News Group reported that on July 11, "Kim shot a 15-over 85 at Sequoyah Country Club in a qualifier for the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship."

Kim, who attends Dougherty Valley High School in San Ramon, took second place at last year's Lone Tree Invitational. Kim is part of the Junior Golf Association of Northern California and competes regularly, according to the Junior Golf Association of Northern California website.
