Baseball: Cal, Dougherty Valley Both Open NCS at Home

Dougherty Valley set to make its NCS debut

A week ago, the California High baseball team's postseason chances looked grim. The Grizzlies needed a pair of wins in the final week of the regular season to become eligible.

Not only did the wins land the Grizzlies a spot in the postseason, but vaulted them to the No. 6 seed.

Cal (12-11-1) will open up the North Coast Section Division I playoffs at home on Tuesday against No. 11 Castro Valley (16-7) at 5 p.m.

Dougherty Valley (14-10) knew it'd be playing in the postseason after beating Dublin on May 6, but learned Sunday it'll open up at home as well. The Wildcats will host No. 9 Novato  (16-9) on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
