Are You Ready For Super Sunday?

The San Francisco 49ers make it to their first Super Bowl since 1995 by downing the Atlanta Falcons, 28-24, in the NFC championship game

They're back.

The San Francisco 49ers are headed to Super Bowl XLVII.

On Sunday, the 49ers rallied from 17 points down to defeat the Atlanta Falcons, 28-24, in the NFC championship game.

With that win, San Francisco is in its first Super Bowl since 1995, when they defeated the San Diego Chargers, 49-26.

The Niners will play the Baltimore Ravens, who downed the New England Patriots, 28-13, for the AFC championship.

San Francisco 49ers Coach Jim Harbaugh will be pitted against his older brother, Ravens Coach John Harbaugh in that title game.

The game is two weeks from today, beginning at 3:30 p.m. California time on Sunday, Feb. 3.

It's the 49ers' sixth trip to the Super Bowl. They've won their five previous contests.

This year, the 49ers will be led by second-year quarterback sensation Colin Kaepernick.

What did you think of today's NFC championship game? Do you think the 49ers can win yet another Super Bowl?

I'm curious - how many super bowls have also been won by cities that also won the world series, if any? Has this ever happened to SF?
jasc January 21, 2013 at 01:15 am
@drtabo: Boston, New York & Pittsburgh have won both titles in the same year.

There's nothing "super" about a couple of crybaby brothers coaching in the Superbowl. I guess it's still better than having Bill Bili-cheat there though. Anyone notice how he always looks like a homeless man in his hoodie on the sidelines?

Now I have to listen to a mass of people who know zero about football tell me how excited they are that their niners are in the super bowl. Wearing crap they havent shown in public for over a decade.

Wow! I would have expected more posts here from happy people! Not griping about the coaches, or whining that people won't pass your standards for true fandom. Really?! It's fun, it's great, just go with it, let people enjoy it. Over the past few years I've watched the number of people in Giants gear multiply exponentially in the East Bay. Great! The more the merrier! I've sweated out every Giants and Niners season during my lifetime -- doesn't mean I'm more entitled to enjoy their success.

From attending niners games at Kezar stadium as a kid, to years of sitting in the cold and wind of candlestick, losing season after losing season, to balling my eyes out seeing "the catch" live, to sitting in the hot stuffy silverdome for the win over the bengels in '82, and every winning and losing since then. I am a Forty Niner Faithful. I am happy and excited we are heading to our 6th superbowl. The two best teams are going to the championship game, and what a game it will be with a secondary story of two brothers meeting as head coaches and with a legend in Ray Lewis retiring. It doesnt get better than this. This girl cant wait for Feb. 3rd. Go Niners! P.S. Lets get Eddie D into the hall of fame!

Nice post from a loyal, long time fan.

Tim, ever notice it's the players who make the team, not the coaches you seem to despise for petty reasons? Go Niners!
Tim January 21, 2013 at 03:24 pm
Sorry, you're right. When the camera went on Jim Harbaugh in the 4th Quarter on an official review that didn't go his way he was jumping up and down screaming and threw his headset. Looked like a crybaby to me. Ok, lets talk about the players then, shall we? Michael Crabtree, now there's a class act... under investigation for an alleged sexual assault. On the other side, you have Ray Lewis, a murderer who should be in prison, not on a football field. Oh and lets not forget about some of the fans... http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/01/21/falcons-fan-throat-slashed-in-parking-lot-after-nfc-championship-game/ I love football but I'll watch it on the big screen in my living room. I'm not spending one dime on tickets, merchanise, etc. to support these people.

I, for one, am a die-hard Raiders fan. I respect the 49ers and was definitely pulling for them yesterday. I like the Ravens and was pulling for them, as well. As it stands now, I hope the 49ers win the Super Bowl, however, if they would have lost, then, I would want the Ravens to win the Super Bowl. As far as Jim Harbaugh going ballistic on the sideline. First of all, it was a "borderline" BS call. That wasn't being a "crybaby" , that was being a "fiery" coach that gives a sh*t! Part of the reason he reacted that way could have been for the benefit of his players.

It's amazing how many folks know so much about sports and don't have a clue about how our government in Washington and even here in Danville are messing with our lives. Go 49er's on Super Sunday... Wow...Super Sunday
CJ January 22, 2013 at 05:51 pm
I am getting jacked for that as well. Go RV2 and RD5!
BTW-Is anyone else sick and tired of RayLewis' act?? It is such bad acting and so disingenuous. Just stop already. You're a thug and we all know it
