It's a Festivus Miracle Out of Schubros Brewery

Get out your ugly sweaters to welcome the new winter brew from your local taproom. Festivus for the rest of us!

For beer enthusiasts, Seinfeld fans or those just trying to keep warm this winter, Schubros Brewery is revealing a winter warmer on Nov. 16 at their taproom in San Ramon.

“I’ve been working on this balance of dark roasted malts, subtle hops, and vanilla, cinnamon, and cardamom spices for years," explains Schubros Brewmaster Mike Johannsen. "But we finally nailed it. There is a beautiful balance which will allow this beer to age for years and get better with time."

While the taproom will open as normal at noon Saturday, launch festivities are not scheduled to begin until 5 p.m., with Festivus Miracle’s formal introduction and launch. The official Festivus Pole will be unveiled at 6 p.m., and at 7 p.m. there will be an Ugly Sweater contest. Free tickets are available on Eventbrite here.

Savourie Streets, the popular San Francisco Bay Area food truck also headquartered in San Ramon, will be there for dinner from 5 p.m.

Festivus, a holiday born in response to family tensions so often exacerbated by the aggressive commercialization of the Christmas period, was invented in 1966 by the family of Dan O’Keefe. O’Keefe, a Seinfeld writer, made the holiday popular in the 1997 Seinfeld episode "The Strike." Since then, the holiday has thrived with varying degrees of nation-wide adoption.

Festivus Miracle distribution will begin the following week, available both on tap and in 22oz bottles.
