What Would $5 Billion in State Budget Cuts Look Like for San Ramon Valley Schools?

The California Teachers Association crunches the numbers to show how an additional loss of $5 billion in state funding would impact local schools.

Cuts to K-12 education have added up to $18 billion over the past three years. That's more than $3,000 per student. The California Teachers Association is asking legislators to prevent further cuts to primary school funding as they decide on a 2011-12 fiscal year budget.

With Gov. Jerry Brown poised to release his May budget revision, and a June special election off the table, it's inevitable that local schools will see another year of cutbacks.
