What Can Benicia High Expect From Damon Wright? Let Them Know!

Damon Wright is leaving his post at Cal High to be the principal at Benicia High. How do you think he will do?

 assistant principal Damon Wright .

The now former Grizzly will be the new principal at .

Michael Gardner, an assistant superintendent for the Benicia Unified School District, said Cal High's principal Mark Corti told him that Wright was "the best assistant principal he’s had in the past 12 years.”

Do you agree? How do you think Wright did at Cal High? What do you consider to be his strength as an administrator? Is there anything Benicia High should be worried about with Wright as their new principal?

For Benicians, what do you want to know about Wright?

This story is being shared on Benicia and San Ramon Patch, and I'm hoping San Ramonians can help out our neighbors to the north and let them know what type of principal they can expect.

This is great news for the Benicia High community. Having graduated from Cal High last year and serving in a variety of leadership roles within our community and at school, I had the privilege to work with Mr.Wright. He is hard working, committed and just an overall great guy. He connects with the students really well and is always looking to do the best thing for the community, faculty and students. He was by far one of the greatest individuals I had the pleasure to get to know during my days in high school. He is definitely going to be missed at California High School and whoever his predecessor is will have hard shoes to fill. Good Luck Mr. Wright at Benicia High School, you deserve it!

Judging from past BHS principals, the honeymoon will be short-lived.

Nitin Yenigalla,,,"you know nothing of what you speak". All the while he maybe a wonderful person and may do a good job. We have the "gestapo" in Benicia who may not like the job being done and then hold secret meetings to have him ousted. It is a disgrace the way our past principals that have been here have been treated. Who knows what agenda the "school trustees" have. Holding closed door meetings. Why would anyone come to Benicia to be our High School principal amazes me. Why ?

anyone? anyone? No, just crickets from San Ramon. My son graduated from Cal High three years ago. I was very surprised to see in this article that Damon Wright had become the assistant principal there as we had only known him as a school counselor. So, he has only been an assistant principal for 3 years with no prior administrative experience (that I know of as he has been a school counselor - and as far as I know the Cal High counselor job might have been his first counseling job). I thought it took more years of experience to have enough experience to be a principal of a high school. My impression of San Ramon schools is that they hire young, inexperienced teachers/staff so they don't have to pay them very much.

Fletcher.....what a stupid remark. Are you sponsoring a cross burning ceremony at the front of the HS to welcome him?

Jeff - Feltcher has a long history of popping his head out of his rat hole every so often to throw out hate filled racist bombs before crawling back until the next opportunity presents itself.

Karen did you support the hiring of the new Principal. I do believe you were on the interview group. Just wondering who your choice was. Was it Mr. Wright or another candidate?

Glad I mis-spelled his name. Anyone out there have any ideas as to how to "fill-in" the rat hole Karen spoke of?

Thanks for chiming in Annie! What was your impression of Mr. Wright in his position as a counselor? Was he your son's counselor? Because of layoffs, Benicia has a lot of older teachers with many years of classroom experience. It will be interesting to see how they relate to Mr. Wright.
