Use Facebook to Raise Money for San Ramon Schools

For every 25 votes a school receives in an online contest, Target will give it a $25 gift card. Help local schools win money today!

Want to donate to San Ramon schools – without it costing you a single penny? Participate in the online “Give With Target” competition, through which community members vote for their favorite schools – and Target ponies up a dollar per vote.

Now through Sept. 8, for every 25 votes each school receives, Target will give a $25 gift card to the school. Schools can use the gift cards towards books, school supplies, or technology for classrooms. Currently 20 San Ramon schools are in the competition and eligible for votes.

How can you help? Grab a computer, log in to your Facebook account, and spend 10 seconds per week voting for your favorite school.

Walt Disney Elementary in South San Ramon is currently leading the city, with more than 50 votes – enough for two $25 gift cards. Windemere Ranch Middle School, Neil Armstrong Elementary, Coyote Creek Elementary, Twin Creeks Elementary and Pine Valley Middle School each have more than 15 votes apiece and are also looking for more.

By casting your votes, you will increase the amount of money these schools will win, which is critical in this era of reduced school budgets. Vote once per week through Sept. 8 - the voting week begins anew every Saturday night.

Don't have a Facebook account? You can support area schools in other ways:

  • Many schools have their own 501(c)(3) non-profit education foundations, making monetary donations to these organizations tax-deductible. Some of these groups even have donation buttons on their websites to simplify the giving process.
  • Walt Disney Elementary needs additional daily votes in the online Avery Give Back to Schools competition to win $13,500 in cash, gift cards and school supplies. Voting is open to anyone over age 18 with a valid email address. Vote for the school today.
  • Got "box tops"? You'll find Box Tops for Education - special pink and purple logos - on many items in local grocery stores, including Kleenex, Ziploc baggies, Cheerios, Bisquick, Scott paper towels, Progresso soups and Scott paper towels. Clip the logos and drop them off at your nearest school office - each is worth 10 cents for San Ramon schools.

Many schools are operating on such lean budgets that programs such as Give with Target and Box Tops for Education are necessary to help fund even basic school programs and supplies. By casting your votes, you're helping thousands of local students.
