Justin Salomon Tran – graduating senior at San Ramon’s Dougherty Valley High School – recently received the first-ever Dublin San Ramon Services District James B. Kohnen Scholarship.
According to Pleasanton Weekly, Tran has been a member of the National Honor Society since 2011, a camp counselor at Walker Creek Outdoor School since 2011, captain of the football and track and field teams and vice president of the Gardening Club at Dougherty Valley high. He will use his $2,000 award while attending University of California, Santa Barbara, where he plans to study geophysics.
The scholarship was created to honor James Kohnen, a former member of the DSRSD Board of Directors who died last year.
