San Ramon's Audrey Bantung Misspells Word in Semifinals of National Spelling Bee

Audrey advanced to the sixth round in the semifinals before she misspelled the word "polytocous," eliminating her from the competition.

Audrey Bantug, an Iron Horse Middle School eighth-grader, is in the semifinals of the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

Her most recent correct spelling was for the word "oread" (a mountain nymph).
