San Ramon Eighth-Grader Competing in Scripps National Spelling Bee Today

One of the 281 spellers competing in the 2013 Scripps National Spelling Bee is from San Ramon.

Audrey Bantug, an Iron Horse Middle School eighth-grader, started her quest to be the top young speller in the country at national spelling bee on Tuesday.

The first day of the bee is the preliminary rounds, followed by Round 2 and Round 3 Wednesday, which can be seen on ESPN3. The semifinals and finals are Thursday and can be seen on ESPN2 and ESPN. You can see the full schedule here.

Bantung advanced to the National Spelling Bee by winning the 37th Annual Contra Costa County Spelling Bee earlier this month.
