Rotary Club of San Ramon Honors Educators

Select San Ramon teachers and staff members were honored at a special luncheon hosted by the Rotary Club of San Ramon.

The Rotary Club of San Ramon held its third annual luncheon to honor 17 educators from San Ramon on Thursday at the Crow Canyon Country Club.

Principals from each school selected the educator he or she thought should be honored at the event.

City leaders also attended the event, including Mayor Abram Wilson, police chief Scott Holder, San Ramon Valley Unified School District board member Paul Gardner and Councilwoman Carol Rowley.

The public school educators honored included teachers, librarians, office managers and other school staff members.

“Teachers do a lot,” said Chris Gayler, Rotary member and event organizer. “I just see how hard they work and anything extra we can do right now to recognize them is a great thing.”

The club previously honored the educators individually at regular Rotary meetings, but decided it would be better to make it a more celebratory occasion and started the luncheon’s three years ago.

“They do a lot of outstanding work for our kids and the community,” Gayler said. “It’s just a small giving back situation.”

All Educator of the Year recipients received certificates of recognition, a name plate for their schools and $100.
