Report: Dougherty Valley and Cal High Ranked in Top 200 in State High School Rankings

The U.S. News & World Report released its list for top high schools in the nation.

Of the 2,407 schools ranked (in 551 districts), as the 108th and the 171st best high school in the state.

U.S. News ranked nearly 22,000 high schools. Overall, Dougherty Valley and California ranked 565th and 880th, respectively, in the nation.

The Danville public high schools had similar ranks, with  ranked 88th and 144th.

U.S. News worked with the Washington, D.C.-based American Institutes for Research (AIR), one of the largest behavioral and social science research organizations in the world, its website states.

The methodology was based on key principals that each high school must serve its students and not just those who are college-bound. The schools ranked must be able to produce measurable academic outcomes to show that the school is education its student body across a range of indicators.

A total of 21,776 public high schools in 49 states, plus the District of Columbia, were analyzed. The website said that Nebraska was the only state that did not report enough data and therefore was not evaluated for any part of the rankings.
