Middle School Students Invited to Submit "Safety On Wheels" Video

San Ramon middle school students have until April 5 to enter the Spring 2010 Street Smarts "Be Reel" Contest.

Spring weather draws out lots of young San Ramon cyclists, skateboarders, and scooter riders commuting to school, riding along streets and along the Iron Horse Trail, or skateboarding at Central Park.

But many kids forgo helmets, ride on the wrong side of the road, and take other risks that put themselves--and others--in danger.

The San Ramon Valley Street Smarts Program wants to change that.

Its new Spring 2010 Street Smarts "Be Reel" video contest for San Ramon Valley middle schoolers is all about "Safety on Wheels"--middle school students using their bicycles, skateboards or scooters safely.

For the contest, students may work individually or in teams of up to four students to produce a creative 60-second public service announcement on the topic.
