The congressman will visit San Ramon Valley High in Danville Thursday morning to discuss politics with local students.

Congressman Jerry McNerney, D-Pleasanton, will visit Danville this week to discuss education, healthcare, civil rights and the federal budget.

The forum for high schoolers titled "Your Voice in Washington" will take place at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at San Ramon Valley High School, 501 Danville Blvd., in Danville.

Students from that school, as well at representatives from Dougherty Valley and Monte Vista high schools, will share their thoughts about a variety of issues with the congressman.

Students chose the topics ahead of time.

After the forum, McNerney will choose one of those topics and speak about it on the floor of the House of Representatives, "bringing the thoughts and ideas of our community's young people to the nation's capitol," wrote McNerney spokeswoman Sarah Hersh in a statement.
