All three finalists will be honored at the Exchange Club’s May 14 luncheon meeting at Faz Restaurant, 600 Hartz Avenue, Danville, 94526 where they will be awarded certificates of recognition.

The runner ups will also receive a cash token of appreciation and Jayendra, the winner, will have his $5000 prize sent directly the college of his choice upon the club’s receipt of his letter of acceptance.

The judges were very impressed with all the essays. After choosing the three finalists, they were interviewed by the judges on the content of their essays after which the winner was decided.

The Exchange Club thanks all the students who submitted essays for their efforts and participation.

The subject of this year’s essay contest was “The War Powers Acts: 1941, 1942, 1973; Are these acts Constitutional or Unconstitutional?”  Students argued both sides of this issue.
