There were 24 teams that competed in the regional competition, that took place at Sandia National Laboratories in Livermore. The teams had to go through round-robin, double-elimination and then the final between the top two teams. While the team was young, Dougherty Valley High School competed and qualified for the third place. Irvington High School from Fremont and Foothill High School from Pleasanton secured the first and second place respectively.

Prembabu and Chemparathy were also a part of Middle School National Championship team which got second place in 2010 and first place in 2011 and continue to have their passion for science even as they just stepped into high school as freshman this year
