Do Kids in Contra Costa County Schools Feel Safe?

A new website compiles a massive amount of data looking at the mental and physical well-being of the state's youth. See how San Ramon Valley kids in your district compare.

Almost one out of ten high school juniors in Contra Costa County feel unsafe at school. High school freshmen in Lamorinda are the fittest in the county. Nearly nine percent of Contra Costa County’s high school juniors have recreationally used prescription drugs. More than one out of 10 seventh graders in Mount Diablo Unified School District report some type of involvement in a gang.

That’s just a fraction of the information available on a new website looking at the physical and mental health of California’s youth

Drawing from a variety of sources, including the California Healthy Kids Survey and the state Department of Educationkidsdata.org aims to promote “the health and well being of children by making trustworthy information easily accessible.”

Kidsdata is a project of the Lucile Packard Foundation For Children's Health, according to the San Jose Mercury News.
