District Read-A-Thon Nets More Than $52,000

Iron Horse, Golden View and Gale Ranch were the schools in the district that had the most participation.

The San Ramon Valley Education Foundation completed their third annual Read-A-Thon with increased reading minutes and pledges.

SRVEF’s mission is to support education while raising funds in partnership with the San Ramon Valley Unified School District.

This year’s Read-A-Thon, which ran from Feb. 14 through March 2, had over 3,200 students participate. Students read a combined total of over 2 million minutes in the 18 days.

, and schools had the most participation, all over 50 percent. The top three schools with the most minutes read were: Gale Ranch, Iron Horse and .

Students gathered over 2,000 pledges with over $52,000 raised. Quail Run, Montair and John Baldwin schools had the most pledge dollars raised. The net proceeds go back to the schools.

Award Ceremony for the Read-A-Thon is being held Monday at Read Booksellers at 4 p.m.
