Abram Wilson Campaign Warned for Not Correctly Reporting Expenses

State officials warn Wilson about not reporting expenditures in his campaign for City Council.

Mayor H. Abram Wilson's campaign for City Council has been warned by the state Fair Political Practices Commission for not promptly reporting campaign expenditures.

In a letter sent to Wilson and his campaign treasurer on Monday, the FPPC told the mayor his campaign had violated section 84211 of the state's Political Reform Act.

In particular, FPPC Enforcement Division Chief Gary Winuk said the campaign had failed to report expenses of more than $100 paid by the campaign's credit card to ElectionMallShopping.com for campaign paraphernalia.

Violations can result in fines of up to $5,000 for each offense. However, Winuk said since the Wilson campaign had amended its financial statement, the FPPC would issue a warning instead of a fine.

Neither Wilson nor his campaign treasuer, Dennis Garrison, could be reached for comment.
