What Do You Value in Sports?

City leaders are asking for residents' input on what sports values should be inscribed on a public art piece that will be installed at the San Ramon Sports Park.

For some people sports are all about teamwork. For others, sports are all about fun.

The City of San Ramon wants to know what residents consider are the most important sports values. Five of the suggestions, which are being collected online, will be inscribed onto a public art piece that will be installed at the San Ramon Sports Park in the fall, according to the city website.

The open online forum about the inscription will remain open until July 26 in order for the city to gather input from the community about sports values. Click here to participate in the online forum

Nearly two dozen residents left suggestions as of July 8 by listing sports values such as collaboration, integrity, dedication, fun, achievement, play and friendship.

City council members approved the installation of the art piece, which is titled Huddle Up, in June.

Huddle Up is described as an abstract piece that symbolizes three team members huddled together to talk about the values of San Ramon Sports.

The sports values will be inscribed in the sphere in the center, according to city documents, and the sculpture, which will stand between 12 and 16 feet tall, will be made of steel.
