After being recognized by the City Council for his years of service to San Ramon, H. Abram Wilson thanked friends, family and staff for helping him along the way.
The speech was almost completely apolitical at Tuesday night, but Wilson did touch on one of the most talked about issues currently in town — Walmart.
Walmart is in San Ramon. It would move into 55,000-square-foot vacant space in the Country Club Village Shopping Center and could open as soon as the end of the year.
"We have to protect quality of life in San Ramon," Wilson said. "If you don't like them, don't patronize them. If you do, then do. But hold them accountable."
Also honored at the council meeting former councilwoman Carol Rowley for her service to the city.
"I didn't just do all of this just out of duty," Rowley said. "I did it because I love San Ramon."
