Nomination Period for City Elections Opens Monday

The mayor's and two council seats are on the ballot this November.

The candidate filing period for San Ramon's Nov. 8 City Council elections starts Monday.

Mayor H. Abram Wilson terms out this year, so his seat is open. So are two others on City Council. Councilman Scott Perkins said he plans to run for re-election. Councilwoman Carol Rowley will run for Wilson's spot.

. And former Planning Commissioner Phil O'Loane recently made public his plans to run for councilman.

The mayor's term in San Ramon is two years and council members' four.

Candidate pamphlets with nomination papers and other election forms will be available at the City Clerk's office, 2222 Camino Ramon, starting Monday.

San Ramon doesn't charge a filing fee, but it costs about $900 to submit a 300-word-max candidate statement. Candidates must be residents of the city, registered voters, at least 18 years old and commit to continue living in San Ramon as long as they're in office.

A training session for prospective candidates takes place at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. .

The deadline to file is 5 p.m. Aug. 12.

The deadline to register to vote for this year's election is Oct. 24.
