Councilman Announces Re-election Bid

Councilman Scott Perkins has officially declared his intention to run for a third term.

It's official: is running for re-election this fall.

Perkins, a 31-year resident of San Ramon, filed papers today to run for a third four-year term. He is currently San Ramon's Vice Mayor.

. So is the mayor's slot, which is open since Mayor H. Abram Wilson terms out this year after eight years in office.

. And former Planning Commissioner Phil O'Loane will run for one of the two council seats.

In a prepared statement, Perkins said that he is running for re-election because he wants to help build on the city's financial strength.

"That strength allows San Ramon to provide a network of services for our residents that result in an outstanding quality of life," said Perkins, who works for Lawrence Livermore National Labs as a flight test engineer.

Perkins believes that his previous job as a financial manager for the labs gives him the economic background to help maintain San Ramon's AAA credit rating.

Perkins is also a member of Save Mount Diablo, and says he is a proponent of keeping Tassajara Valley and San Ramon's surrounding open space development free.

He has also been a Boy Scout leader for 26 years, taking scouts on backpack trips around San Ramon's wilderness areas.

He is married to his wife, Elizabeth. They have four children.
