Applicants for City Manager to be Interviewed Next Week

City Council will hold a closed session meeting to screen applicants to replace soon-to-retire City Manager Herb Moniz.

With the date of Herb Moniz's retirement approaching, city officials are trying to decide who will replace him as city manager.

City Council on Monday will hold a closed session meeting to interview candidates. More than 30 people have applied so far, according to the city.

Moniz . The San Ramon resident was hired by San Ramon in 1985 as the city's first-ever parks director before being promoted to city manager a few years later.

How much Moniz will take home in pension pay remains to be seen. . A city spokeswoman said that information is calculated by CalPERS.

What's also unclear at this point is how much the city will pay Moniz's replacement. Moniz made the news last fall when the League of California Cities named him among the highest-paid city managers in the state with the $359,669 he was paid 2009.
