A woman was struck by a car on Camino Tassajara near Tassajara Lane sometime around 9 p.m. Monday, officials say.
Danville Police identified the woman, 53 year-old Diana Gregory of Danville. She remains at John Muir Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The eastbound lanes of Camino Tassajara Road were closed for investigation until Tuesday morning.
Danville resident Kathleen Foley, 35, was on the scene.
Folley was driving home from dinner when she she saw a witness frantically waving at her.
“Please call 9-1-1, that lady got hit,” the witness, identified as Tracy Davis, told Foley.
Davis explained she saw a car hit a woman, later identified as Diana Gregory. The impact threw the victim in the air before hitting the ground.
“I kept telling the witness ‘it’ll be okay’ but she said ‘it won’t be okay,’” Foley said.
The victim was moaning and blinking to communicate with the emergency responders, she said. There was a small pool of blood beneath her.The driver of the auto, Danville resident Samuel Herrick, 50, stayed at the scene and was arrested in connection with the accident afterward. Herrick was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility for Driving Under the Influence Causing Injury.
