Woman Fights Off, Punched By Would-Be Robbers In Stoneridge Parking Lot

Attack occurred Friday afternoon; suspects fled empty-handed.

A woman fought off two would-be robbers who reportedly punched her in the face while trying to steal her belongings Friday afternoon in the parking lot.

The woman told police she arrived at the mall, and was retrieving items from her auto's trunk at about 3 p.m. when she was accosted by two females, who punched her in the face and attempted to steal her handbag from one arm and shopping bags from the other, according to records.

The 23-year-old victim, whose bags contained merchandise she planned to return, was parked in a lot near J.C. Penney Co., reports state.

As the woman held on to her goods and screamed for help, her attackers reportedly gave up, fleeing with another man and woman in a white Honda, police said.

The two suspects were described as African-American females in their late teens to early 20s; no descriptions were available of the two individuals in the vehicle, according to reports.

Anyone who may have witnessed or has information regarding the incident is encouraged to call Pleasanton police at (925) 931-5100.

We can all thank BART for the increase in this type of activity at the mall.
The Sane One July 12, 2012 at 01:31 am
Huh? So we should shut down BART and make thousands of people clog up the freeway system? That's SO smart, Ally Hater.

What part of "fleeing in a white Honda" converts to, and they came and left on BART?
Ally Gator July 17, 2012 at 01:02 am
Renee, I wasn't referring to this incident but rather the increase this type of activity as my post states. Crime around the mall has increased with the opening of the BART station right outside.
It was a huge waste of BART's potential to put two locations, not to mention a horrendous eyesore like the Pleasanton station, so close together when what was really needed was an extension out towards Livermore. If you want to talk about alleviating traffic congestion, that would have been a far better way to go about it. Sane One, I'm sorry you feel compelled to refer to anyone whose thinking doesn't seem to mirror yours as "a hater". That sounds anything but sane to me. You read far too much into my post. It was not an indictment of the BART system, but rather of the placement of that particular station. I don't think it was a good idea to place it there for a variety of reasons. You are free to disagree with me if you wish. That won't necessarily make you a hater, either. Although name calling might.

I too just noticed the sign. I'm wondering if they just recently changed the picture which is whyRead More we are all just noticing it if indeed it truly has been there since the 80s.......I certainly hope that it is an old sign and that this is not the beginning of other billboard signs lining our 680 corridor.
