Stranger Tried to Talk Golden View Third Grader Into His Truck

The suspicious man asked the third grader is she wanted a ride a school on Wednesday morning.

An unidentified man went up to third grade girl on her way to and asked if she wanted a ride to school Wednesday morning, Golden View principal Nancy White said in an email sent to parents.

The incident occurred at about 8:15 a.m. on Canyon Crest Drive, near the staircase leading to the school field.

The suspicious man got out of his blue truck and asked the third grader if she wanted a ride. She refused and the man returned to his truck, described as a faded blue color, and drove away.

The incident was not reported to school staff until the afternoon.

San Ramon police were contacted and have increased their presence in the area.

The man is described as tall, white, with dark eyes and chin hair.

"Please be alert and immediately report any suspicious activity in the area to the police and the school office," White said in the email.

There have been a string of incidents of suspicious men talking to girls in San Ramon.

In March, San Ramon police confirmed a report of a on San Ramon Valley Boulevard.

Also in March, the San Ramon Valley Unified School District reported incidents near and , where a .

The incidents aren't believed to be related.
