Smoke to the East of San Ramon From Mt. Diablo Wildfire Near Clayton

Local firefighters are working with Cal Fire to douse the 100-acre blaze that's threatening homes in Clayton.

Smoke billowing up to the east of San Ramon is coming from a 100-acre wildfire in the Mt. Diablo foothills around Clayton.

The San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District along with other local fire agencies is helping the California Fire Authority kill the flames that started burning late this afternoon.

Reported at 4 p.m., the fire had started the spread to some Clayton homes by 6 p.m., according to Cal Fire. More than 200 firefighters were dispatched to the scene.

The Mt. Diablo State Park will remain open because the flames are fare enough away from people, Cal Fire said.
