San Ramon Woman Wakes Up to Find Burglary Suspect Standing in Bedroom Doorway

Robert Andrew Hickox of Everett, Washington was arrested and booked on several felony counts.

A Washington state resident was charged this week for two San Ramon burglaries that took place earlier this month, including one in which a woman awoke to find the suspect at the door of her bedroom, police said today.

Robert Andrew Hickox, a 21-year-old resident of Everett, Washington, was charged on Wednesday with two counts of burglary and one count of possession of stolen property, with enhancements for entering an occupied residence, according to police.

The first burglary Hickox is suspected of conducting occurred the night of April 18, when a female resident on Talavera Drive awoke around 11 p.m. and saw a man in the doorway to her second story bedroom, police said.

The suspect fled when the resident verbally confronted him. Officers arrived at the home and found the rear sliding glass door broken and a rear window with signs of tampering.

Police were called to another home in the same area, located near Memorial Park, a few hours later for another burglary in which the suspect broke the rear window to enter the home.

The residents of that house were not home and the suspect appeared to have spent a long time inside the home before leaving with stolen property, police said. Hickox was arrested early on April 19 after officers spotted him in the surrounding neighborhood and determined that he matched the description of the suspect in the first burglary.

Patrol officers determined that Hickox had stolen property in his possession from one of the burglaries. Investigators ultimately obtained property, physical evidence and statements linking Hickox to both burglaries, police said.
