San Ramon Teen Suspected in Pleasanton Shooting Due in Court Tuesday in Vandalism Case
Antonio Faraz Rad, 19, who police say shot at a Fremont man last month is scheduled to appear in court to answer to accusations that he smashed up an Escalade in Pleasanton last year.
A San Ramon man accused of shooting at someone in Pleasanton last month is due in court Tuesday morning for a separate vandalism case.
Nineteen-year-old Antonio Faraz Rad, who police say shot at and tried to steal iPods from a Fremont man in Pleasanton on Aug. 19, will have to enter a plea to charges that he damaged an Escalade in early 2009.
Police say Rad and a couple of friends vandalized the SUV on the suspect's 18th birthday–Jan. 14, 2009. Rad's father, Pleasanton attorney Peyman Rad, said the previous charges stem from a misunderstanding and from false accusations by fairweather friends.

Rad will have to return to court on Sept. 24 to enter a plea to newer charges of attemped murder and burglary stemming from the shooting last month, when a bullet allegedly fired by the teen came inches away from killing 23-year-old Esmatullah Baber, who wasn't injured.
Rad remains at the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin with bail set to $510,000.
