Police Log: Man's BMW Stolen During Servicing, Found Wrecked in Hayward

Fires, problem dogs, runaways, and more from May 2 to 8.

A San Ramon man received a 4 a.m. call from the Hayward Police Department last week, tipping him that his stolen 2006 BMW was crunched in a crash and the auto-theft suspect was in custody -- confusing news, to be sure, as the man was unaware his car was missing.

The last he knew, it was left for servicing at  according to Pleasanton Police Department records

The local man's BMW was one of two vehicles stolen in separate incidents last week from two Rosewood Drive dealerships' service departments, records state.

In the other case, at Acura of Pleasanton, a woman lost her auto after pulling up to the service bay for the routine check-in, when a man reportedly hopped in the driver's seat and made off with her Acura MDX.
