Police Arrest Two on Burglary Charge after Resident Spotted Them on Video Surveillance

Pleasanton police say the suspects, both from San Ramon, were driving around looking for cars to break into.

Two men were arrested by Pleasanton police Monday after a resident said he spotted them on video surveillance equipment trying to break into a car in his driveway.

Police arrested 18-year-old Kyle Pierson, a transient temporarily living in San Ramon, and 20-year-old Alex Nejat of San Ramon on suspicion of burglary, among other things.

About 5 a.m. Monday, a man living on Medallion Court was alerted by his video equipment that someone had trespassed onto his property, according to Sgt. Michael Collins.

Collins said he told police that he was waiting for a friend to pick him up in a Pontiac.

At the same time, the victim on Medallion Court was checking his neighborhood and found a Pontiac that was warm to the touch, indicating it had been driven recently, Collins said.

Then, the resident met police on Regency Court and identified Pierson as the man he had seen breaking into his parked car.

Pierson was arrested on suspicion of burglary, vehicle tampering, prowling and possession of burglary tools, according to police.

Officers watched the Pontiac for almost three hours, when, about 7:40 a.m., Nejat got in and drove toward Stoneridge Mall. Officers stopped him, and say he admitted that he had been driving Pierson around Pleasanton with the intent of burglarizing cars.

Police arrested Nejat on suspicion of burglary and possession of stolen property.
