Police Arrest Man at San Ramon Hotel in Attempted Kidnapping

Police say an armed man was trying to drag woman out of hotel office by her hair.

San Ramon Police said they arrested a 24-year-old man Saturday morning on suspicion of attempting to kidnap his ex-girlfriend.

The suspect, 24-year-old Daniel Richard Medina, was arrested at the Extended Stay America on San Ramon Valley Boulevard after police were called there at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, according to a press release.

The victim, an 18-year-old Sacramento resident, was staying at the hotel and agreed to go for a ride with Medina, who is the father of her child.

The two apparently returned to the hotel, where the woman tried to get help from the office staff. When witnesses tried to intervene, the suspect pointed a handgun at them, then struck the victim with the gun and dragged her by her hair, police said.
