Suspected Drunken Driver Slams Truck Into Tree Saturday Morning

The driver of the pickup truck was arrested for felony DUI and a passenger was airlifted to John Muir Medical Center.

A man was airlifted to after the pickup truck he was a passanger in slammed into a tree on Bollinger Canyon Road early Saturday morning, according to  official Dan McNamara.

San Ramon Valley Fire was alerted to the accident on Bollinger, between Crow Canyon Road and Deerwood Drive, at about 1:50 a.m. Firefighters had to remove the top of the truck to reach the injured man and he was airlifted to the hospital.

McNamara said the man's injuries "were moderate" and the fire department did not treat anyone else on scene.

The driver of the pickup, Russell Walther Jr., 23, was arrested on scene on suspicion of felony DUI. He was booked at the , according to Sgt. Pat Cerruti.

Including Walther, three people were in the truck at the time of the accident.
