Man Arrested on Suspicion of Attempted Murder

Police say the 23-year-old stabbed another man at his ex-girlfriend's house before running away.

Police arrested a man suspected of stabbing his ex-girlfriend's guest several times in the face and upper body Thursday at a local apartment complex.

San Ramon resident Enrique De La Campa, 23, was booked at the county jail in Martinez on suspicion of attempted murder, according to Lt. Dan Pratt of the San Ramon Police Department. He is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail.

"The suspect attacked a male guest of his former girlfriend with a kitchen knife," Pratt said. "The victim was stabbed numerous times in the upper body and face."

Police were called just after noon to the stabbing at on Canyon Village Circle.

The 28-year-old victim, who was not identified, was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek. The ex-girlfriend was not hurt, Pratt said.

De La Campa ran from the house before police arrived.

Officers caught De La Campa thanks to citizens who saw him running onto Interstate 680 near Crow Canyon Road and called 911.
