Four Candidates Running For San Ramon Valley Fire District Board

One incumbent, three challengers vying for two seats on Nov. 2.

Four people will be running for two seats in the Nov. 2 election for the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District board of directors.

Two additional candidates filed papers with the Contra Costa County Clerk's office before Wednesday's 5 p.m. deadline.

Incumbent Jennifer Price of Danville, who is a Millbrae firefighter/paramedic as well as a two-term incumbent, has filed for re-election.

Retired mechanical engineer Glenn Umont of Alamo, who ran for the board in 2008, has also submitted his candidacy papers.

Financial advisor Michael Marchi of Alamo will also be listed on the ballot.

Walter Welti, a retired business manager from Danville, also is running for the board of directors.

The other incumbents, Nick Dickson, a Danville resident and Peninsula fire captain who was first elected in 2006, isn't running.

The two seats are both four-year terms.

The third seat listed on the ballot is to finish the final two years of the term of former director Ken Sandy, who resigned last year.  Matthew Stamey, an investment manager who was appointed in October 2009, was the only candidate to file for that post.

Vote for Price and Marchi. Umont is embroiled in a sex harassment suit where he is alleged to have given his female employee an ulimatum --- sleep with me or you don't have a job!! There is no place for sexist attitudes like that in the Fire District. Plus, his picture is a little on the creepy side.
