City Seeks Youth Police Academy Recruits

The San Ramon Police Department is giving high-school students the chance to learn the tricks of the trade through the annual Youth Academy in June.

Local high schoolers interested in becoming a police officer one day, or who just want to learn more about law enforcement, can sign up for San Ramon Police Department's Youth Academy.

The academy is an annual program that police say is “designed to inspire good citizenship through criminal justice education.”

The two-week session of classes shows students what San Ramon police go through to provide law enforcement services to the city.

Students also will go on field trips to juvenile hall and to learn about the police Use of Force Simulator – an interactive computer simulator that utilizes a large screen on which police practice using firearms and non-lethal weapons in a controlled but realistic environment.
