Chestnut Court Fire Still Under Investigation

Firefighter injured on April 1 call is recovering.

The cause of remains under investigation.

A firefighter on the two-alarm call had minor injuries and is recovering, said San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District spokeswoman Kim French.

Property damage from the blaze at 203 Chestnut Court is estimated at $300,000, French said. No one was inside at the time of the fire, which started in the kitchen and displaced the family living there.

Six engines, two trucks, a breathing support unit, an ambulance, three chief officers, a safety officer and a fire investigator rushed to the scene minutes after 6 p.m. April 1.

"It was being rented and the family had just finished moving in that day," French said. "And unfortunately, they lost everything."
