Arraignment Friday for Man Suspected of Beating Mom

Aaron Ricks, 27, will face an attempted murder charge, according to district attorney's office.

A San Ramon man who was arrested night is set to be arraigned Friday in Contra Costa County Superior Court on attempted murder charges, Conta Costa County Deputy District Attorney Gerald Chang said.

Aaron Ricks, 27, will also be charged with two enhancements, use of a deadly weapon and causing great bodily injury.

Ricks was arrested by on Durango Lane around midnight Monday. When officers arrived, they said Ricks was holding a baseball bat and sitting on a porch outside a neighbor's house. His mother was inside the neighbor's home, a witness said.

After he refused to drop the bat, a non-lethal projectile was fired to disarm Ricks, police said.

He is being held at the Martinez Detention Facility. His bail is $1 million.

According to news reports, the woman remains hospitalized.
