After Further Review, City Attorney Drops Bomb Scare Case Against 49ers' Aldon Smith

The Los Angeles City Attorney's Office announced today that no charges will be filed against San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith, who allegedly made a comment about having a bomb as he was going through security screening at Los Angeles International Airport.

But Smith is still required to attend a July 30 hearing at the city attorney's office, according to spokesman Frank Mateljan.

The matter had been referred April 24 from the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office to the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office for misdemeanor consideration.
Smith, 24, was approached by airport police in the Terminal 1 gate area after he allegedly made the comment on April 13 and was arrested when he became uncooperative, according to Airport Police Sgt. Karen Ortiz.

Smith was booked at the Los Angeles Police Department's Pacific Station on suspicion of making a false report of a bomb threat and was released several hours later on $20,000 bond.
