Time for some great July activities that are completely free!
First, there are several great local parks that many of us might know about but want to revisit. They all have water, so make sure kids wear swimsuits.
A family favorite of ours is always in Danville. They have tons of water, sand and great play structures. Hap Magee is located at 1025 La Gonda Way.
in Danville, adjacent to Sycamore Elementary, is also another great water park, with fun water shooters kids love. in San Ramon, with its newly renovated playground, is a summer hot spot, especially as the weather heats up. It is located at 12501 Alcosta Boulevard.
On Saturday, July 7 from 9 a.m. to noon, head to in San Ramon or Dublin, where your young carpenter will get all of the supplies and building materials to make his or her own Penske moving truck.
This is either a great child-parent activity for younger children or an independent workshop for more adept tool users. Get there early to ensure your child gets his or her kit and you may even get a kid’s apron and pin for free.
On Wednesdays in July, at 3 p.m., head to the for a free featured movie each week. It’s a great way to stay cool indoors. Another library activity takes place at the on Saturday, July 14 at 11 a.m. There will be family crafts, and your child can meet “Ladybug Girl” and “Geronimo Stilton,” two favorite characters!
in Dublin also offers a monthly free carpentry class, but pre-registration is required. For July, there are more than 40 spots still left at their Livermore location on Sunday, July 15 at 10 a.m. You must pre-register at here to reserve a spot.
Ready for the San Ramon Summer Concert Series? Bring a blanket and a picnic dinner, and head to Central Park Fridays in July. The concert starts at 5:30, but your family will want to score a spot on the hill well ahead of time to get a good seat. Kids are welcome to romp around and even dance in front, where the band plays. “Pride and Joy” performs on the Fourth of July, and the “Sun Kings” offer a Beatles tribute on July 15.
