Obituary: San Ramon Mother, Community Leader Remembered

Juli Shabazian died peacefully on February 20, 2013 in the loving and devoted arms of her husband Chip after a 17 month courageous battle against cancer. A beautiful and gracious mother, she has gone to the angels and is now reunited with her mother and beloved family members. Juli was 49 years old.

Juli was born on June 16, 1963 in Akron Ohio to her parents Patrinella and Dale Hillegas, and  attended Ygnacio Valley High School in Concord, CA. She graduated from California State University Sonoma with a BA in Marketing Communications. Juli worked at Automatic Data Processing (ADP) for 15 years until her leave of absence in 2011.

Juli was married to Chip Shabazian, a native Californian, on April 17, 1999 in Santa Rosa CA. and most recently resided in San Ramon, CA with her family.

Juli was a compassionate and outstanding role model as mother, daughter, sister, wife, and advocate for children. Her zest for life and infectious laughter touched everyone around her. Juli tirelessly gave of herself to the community as a fun loving Girl Scout leader, Special Needs Chair for the Live Oak PTA, a charter member of the Dougherty Valley San Ramon Rotary Club, and so much more.

A devoted mother and wife, Juli is survived by her children Christina, Nicole, Michael III, Samantha, and husband Michael Shabazian (Chip) Jr.; brothers Blake Hillegas of Santa Rosa, CA and Dirk Hillegas of Orrick, MO.

For the community of friends, family and all of Juli’s supporters, services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on February 23 at St. Philip Lutheran Church, 8850 Davona Drive, Dublin CA. A reception immediately follows.

God saw Juli was getting tired and a cure was not to be,
So in the still of night He put his arms around her and whispered, “Come with me.”
With tearful eyes and hopeful hearts we watched her drift away,
Although we loved her dearly, and tried as best we could, we could not make her stay.
Juli’s golden heart stopped beating, her loving embrace to rest,
God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.
Our love and memory of Juli will forever survive.
Her legacy, so wonderful, so beautiful, shall forever thrive.
